Each Brazos piece is made in America by our skilled craftsmen, one at a time. The process starts in the field, as our harvesters carefully and sustainably collect the saplings that we use to create our hiking sticks. From that point the saplings are brought to our Texas facility where they are kiln-dried to ensure maximum usability for our woodworkers. Our craftsmen then size, straighten, and meticulously sand each walking stick, careful to retain each piece’s unique characteristics. How to Size a Walking Stick Sizing a walking stick is largely a matter of personal preference, but we do offer recommendations based on our 20 years’ experience in the hiking stick and walking cane business: 48″ for adults up to 5’4″; 55″ for adults between 5’4″ and 5’11”; and 58″ for adults taller than 5’11”. How to Size a Walking Cane For walking canes, a standard 37-inch size is a good starting place for most adults. For taller folks, we offer 40-inch canes as well. If you are shorter, we offer 34 inch canes, too. Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor. A good cane size should allow for an elbow that is slightly bent.
